Cyclocross Season Kicks off in Colorado!

(September 8, '05 Mead, Colorado) :: The Colorado Cyclocross season kicked off today at the Mead motorsports raceway. This was the first installment of a four week cyclocross training series put on my Andy Rosen in support of the Rocky Mountain Cycling Education Foundation development team. About 40 riders showed up for the 6pm start and the racing was hard from the gun. All categories start out at the same time and are scored individually after the first parade lap around the inner oval of the raceway. Zak Grabowski of the TIAA-CREF squad took the early lead on the first lap and never looked back. The first week of the series is a subtle way of easing riders into the cross season and much of the course was on pavement and only 2 barrier sections existed with maybe 20% of the course taking to the grass. Every week Andy Rosen and his crew will be adding more and more barriers while utilizing more of the infield grass. For more information on the Thursday night Colorado cyclocross training series please go to www.americancycling.org for more information and for full results please go to www.rmcef.org. See ya next week.
