Czech Cyclocross racer Zlamalik faces doping punishment
(FROM: www.chinaview.cn) :: PRAGUE, Jan. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Czech cyclocross international Martin Zlamalik, 23, faces a punishment for the use of ephedrine, he said Friday.Traces of a banned substance where found in his urine sample taken after a cup race in Plzen, west Bohemia, on November 19, 2005 where he ended fourth, he said, adding that he has applied for his B-sample test to be made.
"I don't want to point to anyone or anything in excuse, but I don't understand it. That is why I've asked for the B-sample to be examined but I don't know the result as yet," Zlamalik, who won the European under 23 championship in Tabor, south Bohemia, in 2003.
"I believe that the (previous test) will turn out to be an error and that I would not face any punishment," Zlamalik said.
If the second test result is positive, Zlamalik would not avoid punishment. He would face a fine and a warning at least.
Nevertheless, he can continue racing until the B-test results are know
